After a month and a week of travelling I am back in Damascus. I lost my Syrian SIM somewhere in the US, so my new Syrian number is:

Damascus is hot (weather.com says 100F or 38C), but this is not the death-causing hotness I had been expecting. Still, I have two more months of hot, in a somewhat stuffy apartment. I now think fondly of those days with sweaters and jackets in Boulder and Berlin. And covers. Sleeping under covers will not be happening much anymore.
On the upside, I may have a job in a cardiology clinic, thanks to a friendly doctor I met on my flight from Instanbul to Damascus. At the least, I got a ride from the airport to my apartment at 3 in the morning from his driver. More to follow.
